A view source button for any browser
This bookmark opens the page you’re on in viewhtmlonline, so you see its HTML in one tap. It works in Safari on iPhone and iPad, where there is no view source, and in every desktop browser.
Pages you open this way are never shown in our “latest requests” list.
On a computer
Show your bookmarks bar, then drag this button onto it:
Now open any page and click View source in your bookmarks bar.
On iPhone or iPad
- Copy the code:
- Bookmark this page: tap Share, then Add Bookmark, name it “View source” and tap Save.
- Open your bookmarks, tap Edit, then tap the “View source” bookmark.
- Delete the address, paste the code you copied and tap Done.
- On any page, open your bookmarks and tap View source.
This is the code, if you’d rather copy it by hand:
javascript:void(location.href='https://viewhtmlonline.com/view?private=1&url='+encodeURIComponent(location.href))On Android
Chrome on Android works the same way: bookmark this page, edit the bookmark and paste the code as its address. To use it, type “View source” in the address bar and tap the bookmark in the suggestions. See view source on Android for other ways.
Is it safe?
The bookmarklet only sends the address of the page you’re on to viewhtmlonline. It doesn’t read the page, your cookies or anything you typed. Our server fetches the public page itself, so pages behind a login show their logged-out version.
