About viewhtmlonline

viewhtmlonline shows the HTML source of any public web page. It started as a way to view source on phones, where browsers don’t offer it, and grew into a small toolbox for checking pages.

How it works

Our server downloads the page you ask for, follows its redirects and shows the HTML as text. Nothing from that page runs in your browser. We save a copy so the next visitor gets it instantly; press “Recheck now” to fetch it again.

How we keep it safe

• We only fetch public http and https pages on the normal ports. Internal and private addresses are refused, also when a site redirects to them.
• Pages are shown as text with a strict security policy, so their scripts can’t run.
• Pages with a query string or a login look are never saved or listed.
• Cookies a site tries to set are hidden.
• We limit page size (2 MB), time (15 seconds) and how often you can fetch.

Our fetcher

Our requests use the user agent viewhtmlonline/2.0. Site owners who want a page removed can use the removal form.
